Fiberglass Insulation

Differences in Fiberglass Insulation

Geo-Insulation offers various types of fiberglass and other insulation for both commercial and residential customers

Understanding insulation specifications is key to knowing what type you need and how much you need. Insulation levels are specified by R-Value, which is a measure of the insulation’s ability to resist heat flow. The higher the R-Value, the better the thermal performance of the insulation. The recommended level for most attics is to insulate to R-38 or about 12 to 14 inches, depending on your insulation type.

Fiberglass Insulation—Available in batts and rolls, with a depth of 13” needed to meet the requirement of R-38 for attics. This type of insulation is used in areas where there are large open spaces, such as cathedral ceilings. Fiberglass insulation is available that contains natural and recycled materials. CPS Energy offers rebates for fiberglass insulation if the specified requirements are met.

Loose Fill Blown-In Insulation Made from Recycled Materials—Fiberglass loose-fill insulation is made from glass, including 20-30% recycled glass, that has been spun into fibers. Cellulose loose-fill insulation is made from reprocessed newspapers that have been formed into a fibrous material. The insulation is blown into the area by machine and can conform to any space, making it ideal for locations that are hard to reach or irregularly shaped. Loose-fill insulation is used in enclosed existing walls, open new wall cavities and unfinished attic floors. Reduce your energy costs by up to 35% with loose fill insulation.
